Forest Lake Lions Club update

by Kim Grierson

The last activity our Club undertook before restrictions due to COVID-19 was to assist with the Moggill-Mt Crosby Lions 24/7 Ipswich 100 charity bike ride.

Fortunately, the bike ride was able to go ahead and while numbers were well down this year, the Club raised around $40,000 which goes directly to Lion’s projects. The next Ipswich 100 charity bike Ride is planned for March 2021.

One of the regular activities we undertake as a club is cleaning rubbish from the roads around the shopping centre as part of Adopt-a-Spot program.

Our first club outing post COVID-19 was on Sunday 7th June and we held our Adopt-a-Spot (Keep Queensland Beautiful) clean up. We had a large turnout of 20 club members including some of our St John’s Leos.

It was great to get together as a club and do something useful after a few months of isolation and only seeing each other through Zoom meetings.

The Storey Bridge, Brisbane, lit with blue lights to celebrate the Lions Club 103rd birthday.

Lions International celebrated its 103rd birthday and as part of its celebration, the lights on the Story Bridge were lit blue and yellow on Sunday, June 7th.
