How very lucky we are to be able to enjoy the easing of COVID-19 restrictions and have the opportunity to travel within our wonderful State of Queensland. Everyone has played their part in following the medical advice to keep well.
The Forest Lake Branch of National Seniors Australia is really keen to get back to enjoying each other’s company when it’s safe to do so. We
will recommence meetings when it’s possible.
This month we share with you a photo of a small gathering we held with the theme ‘Teddy Bears Picnic’. It was fun and we had a beautiful day weather-wise too. The photo is of the winners of largest teddy and smallest teddy. Congratulations ladies.
We look forward to a variety of exciting away trips, day trips, special themed events, BBQ’s, lunches, movie mornings and lots more which are on our Calendar, hopefully before the end of the year, if not, in the New Year. Once we get the all clear, it will be back to doing what we all enjoy.
The Head Office of National Seniors Australia continues to advocate on behalf of members and to disseminate important information out to its membership. It was nice to receive a phone call from staff at Head Office checking on our welfare. Check the website for National Seniors.
Remember: when things are getting you down, keep looking up.
Next month we celebrate Queensland Seniors Week. Plans are afoot to celebrate whilst maintaining social distancing. We can do this. For the first time in its 60 year history, Queensland’s annual celebration of seniors is going virtual. A decision was made to maintain the week format, celebrating from Saturday 15 to Sunday 23 August 2020.
To our members who are unwell or recovering from surgery, our best wishes for a return to good health.
Our Branch is extremely grateful for the ongoing support from Forest Lake One Community and the Heritage Bank. Our branch bank account is held at the Forest Lake branch of Heritage Bank where we receive excellent service.
Thank you to Susannah at The Lake News, for the amazing support given to groups in the Forest Lake Ward and beyond.
All members of our community please stay well and stay safe.
