Inala Christian Playgroup is celebrating their second year of running a bright and successful playgroup for guardians and children of Inala and surrounds.
Inala Christian Playgroup was started by former school teacher Rachel Cooke, with the support of the Inala Christian Reformation Church.
Rachel said the group was created to be a place of support for mums to help combat loneliness and isolation.
“[I] experienced the struggles of isolation as a new mum, and thought the solution might be to gather mums in the community who might be experiencing the same feelings,” she said.
The group now meets weekly during school term for ages 0-5 years old on Thursdays from 9.30 am – 11:00 am at 85 Frangipani Street, Inala.
The group takes a semi-structured format with free play, story and song time, morning tea and craft.
Children enjoy a range of play activities that encourage their development in gross motor, fine motor, social interaction, language skills and much more.
During this time parents and guardians can relax whilst enjoying a hot beverage and one another’s company.
“Playgroup has been one set time I look forward to each week where I know my kids
will have a blast and I can relax and have a coffee and a chat,” regular attendee Jessica Hanko said.
The playgroup organisers are mothers from a range of backgrounds, including school teachers and occupational therapists.
These volunteers are united by their goal of supporting mothers and children in fostering connections, to learn and to be held by a community of friends.
The group is open and welcoming to all and is excited to recommence from October 5, 2023.
