Free Movies in the Park
Christmas and the end of the year are fast approaching. A huge thank you to my staff and volunteers that were rushed off their feet at the inaugural Free Movies in the Park Minions: The Rise of Gru Family held in Inala.
Big thank you to the Lions Club of Inala for cooking their delicious sausage sizzle, Bank of Queensland for handing out sweets and Brisbane City Council for all their hard work to make the night a success.
I’ve received some wonderful feedback and really enjoyed hearing about how much everyone enjoyed taking part in the local council initiative in the lead up to the festive season.
Severe Weather Preparation
Forest Lake Ward time to get severe weather ready Brisbane City Council provides free severe weather packs for Brisbane residents.Â
The packs include important information for seniors, young people, pet owners and more.
The Forest Lake Ward office has stock of these free packs that include information on where to get sandbags and how to prepare for storms.
I encourage you to collect one by visiting my ward office or call my friendly staff on 34071211.
Forest Lake Markets wow the crowds
Wow, the October 1st Birthday and Spooktacular themed Forest Lake Markets was a real hit with the locals.
I had a ball with selecting and presenting prizes to the top three best dressed costumes.Â
These markets continue to get bigger and better as the months go by. Great to see so many locals buying and supporting our local business.
Floral emblem results – Golden Wattle
The Brisbane Wattle has been voted in as the additional floral emblem for Brisbane. Brisbane City Council and myself undertook community consultation earlier this year and now the results are in.
Residents that took part will be excited that the wait is over. The Brisbane Wattle is a native species which flowers from mid-winter to early spring, with many yellow ball- shaped flowers attracting many of our native birdlife, bees, and photographers.
The Lake parklands has been a corridor of yellow recently with all the Wattles gracefully blighting the paths.
I want to hear from you.
With the next council election being held on 16th March next year I will be continuing taking opportunities to speak to residents about what they would like to see in our community.
If you have an idea that will improve our community or local suburbs, I would like to hear from you on your thoughts.
If there’s anything else I can do (or my staff, Pam or Nayda) on these or any other council matters, please contact my office at Forestlake.ward@bcc.qld.gov.au or on 34071211. I look forward to seeing you when I’m out and about in our community.
