The November 2024 edition of The Lake News is here! The Forest Lake Community Festival was a huge community hit, the Samoan Prime Minister visits Ellen Grove and Forest Lake's favourite businesses were celebrated at an awards ceremony.
October 2024
The October 2024 edition of The Lake News is here! The Forest Lake Community Festival is returning on Saturday October 12, a Swan Protection Group has been launched in Forest Lake, and an evaluation has began for a Greater Pallara high school.
September 2024
The September 2024 edition of The Lake News features the 10 year celebration of the Sargham Music Academy, as well as the results from Allstars Performing Arts eisteddfod season. Former Forest Lake State High School student Phoebe Learmont represents Australia at the Olympics in Rhythmic Gymnastics, and Forest Lake teenager Vivian heads to Cambodia to build a house for a family in need.
August 2024
The August 2024 edition of The Lake News features the Forest Lake Markets Christmas in July event, which was packed full of entertainment, larger-than-life bubble creations, and plenty of market stalls. An Urgent Care Clinic is coming to Inala, allowing locals access to bulk-billed healthcare seven days a week. NAIDOC week was recently celebrated at the Inala Plaza with entertainment and activities for children.

The July 2024 edition of The Lake News is here! The community rallies around to support the recent brood of black swan cygnets despite theft attempts and lurking predators. The Forest Lake Markets on July 12 will bring Christmas joy early with a Christmas in July theme, and a new BNI group is launched in Forest Lake.

The June 2024 edition of The Lake News is here! FLSHS student Zack is heading to the US to represent Australia in the Microsoft Office Competition this coming July. Inala-based Western Brisbane Alliance is set to launch an innovative music therapy program for people living with dementia and their families. This edition of The Lake News also features a gallery from Anzac Day 2024.

The May 2024 edition of The Lake News is here! Inala boxer Teremoana Jr Teremoana has qualified for the 2023 Olympics in Paris. Forest Lake author Michael Stein has chronicled his father's extraordinary life as a Holocaust survivor, and Forest Lake RSL member Brian Robertson chronicles the life of 18 local veterans in his new book.
April 2024
The April 2024 edition of The Lake News features the International Women's Day fun run, which was attended by employees from the Queensland Child Care Services in Inala. Cars sparkle at the Forest Lake Show and Shine event, and locals fall in love with a new way to play Rugby League through the Wasps social Kick-It Touch program.
March 2024
The March 2024 edition features a Forest Lake resident's epic journey to Antarctica as part of an environmental research team. Alastair Bax, Forest Lake jeweller and children's book author, is writing a sequel to Croaker's Lagoon after receiving devastating news late last year. The Forest Lake community looks forward to the return of the Easter Eggstravaganza this Sunday March 24 at The Lake Stage.

The February 2024 edition of The Lake News is out now! This issue features the upcoming Forest Lake Community Cleanup event, a Forest Lake-based writing competition, a history reflection about the beginning of Forest Lake and much more.

Our first edition of 2024 is now live! This issue features a tribute to Captain Frank St Michael Gifford Fidoe and his enduring legacy of valour and generousity. We also reflect on the wonderful 2023 Forest Lake Community Carols held in December, and celebrate the success of Forest Lake State High School students who placed 1st and 2nd in a national Microsoft competition, with Zack heading to America to compete internationally.Â
December 2023
The December edition of The Lake News is now live! The last edition of the year features the debut of Alastair Bax's childrens book Croakers Lagoon. We also celebrate four young chess stars from Grand Avenue State School taking 2nd place at the Brisbane West Interschool Chess Tournament, with Jethro placing number 1 overall, and an upcoming movie night for families and their furry friends hosted by The Australian Shepherd Club.

The November edition of The Lake News is now live! Forest Lake local Charlie Eggins is named the world champion for solving a single 3x3 Rubiks Cube while blindfolded, local teacher Mr Raatz wins a national award, and local fairies cause excitement as they move into their new treehouse in Forest Lake.
October 2023
The October edition of The Lake News features two local performers, Caitlyn Madden and Amy Winner, starring in major productions. See our photo gallery of the Forest Lake Festival held at the Lake, and read about the last black swan cygnet, who unfortunately had to be euthanised after sustaining significant injuries. The local crochet group celebrates 10 years of creating handmade items for charity, and the Teeyan festival held at the Lake was a huge success. Meet local high school student Mackenzie Robinson, a young entrepreneur who makes his own pens which he sells through his business, Penz by Kenz. Forest Lake State High School dance students have proven themselves to be a force to be reckoned with this competition season, and are now preparing for State Finals. The family-favourite Lakehouse Trio has upgraded to become the Lakehouse Quartet as a fourth member joins in the fun - allow us to introduce you to Phil O'Connor on Page 36. The Forest Lake Baptist Church is about to celebrate their 25th Birthday, and you're invited! FLSHS champions win the Yagera Netball competition and indigenous youth are empowered by the Broncos. From the Mens Shed to the Girl Guides, from our and community groups to senior clubs, from sports clubs to the RSL - you can find out about what went down in Forest Lake this month from all of our community contributing groups.

The August edition of The Lake News is here now! A Forest Lake State High School team has secured their place as reigning champions after winning the Farming Simulator Game in a Esports competition. Christmas came early this year at the Forest Lake July Twilight Markets, where spectators enjoyed a sneak peak of Allstar's ELF production and Christmas themed stalls. Pursuit Youth is creating a safe space for teens in Forest Lake and surrounds through Nerf Wars, rock climbs, hikes, chocolate and much more. This month’s edition features the Hakka Multicultural Celebrations held at the Lake, the classical theatre production by Forest Lake State High School, and the Movie Night Under the Stars. Forest Lake SHS Esports students take the top prize in an international Just Dance competition, and our community contributors report on the various activities and events happening in Forest Lake. The Lake News's 30th Birthday Celebration travels back in time to three decades ago when Chris and Betty Wren founded the community magazine. Read about WWII serviceman Oliver Cuthbert, the ancestor of Forest Lake RSL member Jill Nason, and Part 9 of Forest Lake History by Vicki Mynott, which highlights the dangers of Forest Lake and the explosive "Darra Dump" post-war. This month’s edition features the Forest Lake Easter Eggstravaganza Event, which featured market stalls, dance performances, an interactive stage show, and much more - not to mention the Easter Bunny himself! The Richlands Forest Lake Scout Group enjoyed a trip exploring Outback Australia in Longreach, learning about history and making friends to last a lifetime. Meet Emma Nicholls, the new reverend at Community Life Uniting Church (formerly Forest Lake Uniting Church) and meet some of the Forest Lake local businesses nominated for the Inala Small Business Awards 2023.

This month’s edition features the Forest Lake Paws Edition markets, where pets and pet lovers united for a pawfect night outdoors. Learn about the six Forest Lake Lakers Dragon Boat Racers heading to the AusChamps National Championships this month and check out the first edition of our new Community Hero section, which will be published monthly by Nayda Hernandez.
