Every year, I actively raise awareness about Domestic and Family Violence (DV) during DV Prevention month by donating to local DV candlelit vigil events.
It is important that we raise awareness of the issue and do our bit to show our support to families and survivors of DV.
In 2019, as the local Councillor I organised the Brisbane City Council in partnership with Red Rose, the bench near the Amphitheatre, Forest Lake to be painted bright red to encourage people to take a stand against domestic violence.
Each year since, during May, I paid for roses to be laid on the red bench to bring awareness.
I’m proud to have done my small bit once again this year.
This month in Brisbane City Council we will see the 2023-24 Budget handed down on June 14.
I’m anticipating a few good wins for our community.
These wins are because residents have worked with me to advocate for our fair share.
Please contact my office if you would like to learn more about the Brisbane City Council budget or would like a copy of my budget newsletter.
Residents can now register their interest in being part of the Inala Pensioners Inc. Biggest Morning Tea.
1 in 2 Australians are diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85.
You can support the cause by purchasing a ticket for $10.00 for a fun morning of live entertainment, food and more by visiting the Forest Lake Ward office.
This fundraiser will take place June 7, New Inala Hall between 10 am to 12 pm.
If there’s anything I or my staff (Pam or Nayda) can do on these or any other council matters, please contact my office at forestlake.ward@bcc.qld.gov.au or on 34071211.
I look forward to seeing you when I’m out and about in our delightful community.
