Born in 1970 after being severed from Pallara, Heathwood has never been a large suburb, but this appears to be changing considering the rapid growth of its population in recent years.
Between the 2011 and 2016 census, Heathwood only grew in population by 974 – a small increase over the course of five years.
However, in 2021, the area experienced growth of over twice that – a whopping 2,150 people, doubling the size of the community it had nurtured since the ‘70s.
While by no means large suburbs, both Heathwood and Pallara, which tripled its own population between 2016 and 2021, are representations of a changing population landscape and the migration from urban to suburban areas.
To celebrate Heathwood coming of age, attached is a story from February 2015 that the Lake News published, which covered the funding for park upgrades for the small community.
