What a fabulous group of girls we have now – up to 14 this term! We started the term by paying our respects to our defence force personnel on ANZAC Day with some of our girls participating in the local march. We are very proud to be involved in ANZAC Day and see it as a very important date in our yearly diaries.
We had a wonderful Mother and Daughter night to celebrate our Mums, and invited mums to play a few of our favourite games and be challenged by a “how well do you know your mum/daughter” quiz. There were a few surprises and laughs. The girls had made cards and either coasters or little plant pots for their mums. Hopefully our mums enjoyed their mother’s day.
We have many exciting events coming up over the next few months which we are looking forward to. We have a region-wide mini Olympics, Guides Grab your Passport, and Region movie night, which the general public are invited to on June 1 at the Yeronga Girl Guide Hall. Night Moves for our 11-13 year-olds and Night Shadows for our 14+ age group is coming up also.
We continue to prepare for our big camp in October by practising our outdoor skills. Our local unit will also join with other Guides for a weekend camp in August.
Our girls continue to develop their skills and earn badges, which keeps them motivated and enthusiastic. We are hoping that 2-3 of our guides will be finishing off their Junior BP awards this year.
As always, if your daughter would like to come along and give Guiding a go, call or send us an email at forestlakeDM@guidesqld.org or contact 0412 767 708.
