House sale comes full circle 30 years later

Real estate agent Brian Hastie recently had the rare opportunity to resell a Forest Lake property 30 years after he first sold it to the owner.

The 69 Serrata Circuit property was originally purchased for $122,000 in 1994 and resold for $700,000 on August 14, 2024.

“30 years ago I helped Pat buy her first home in Serrata Circuit Forest Lake – I was working for Delfin selling hundreds of new homes in the area,” Brian said.

“I had the privilege of selling the property again as she is moving to a new retirement community.”

The value of Pat’s property was increased by about $60,000 due to her garden.

Brian said reselling the same property so many decades later was a rather uncommon occurrence for a real estate agent.

“It’s not the first house I’ve sold more than once obviously … but it’s the first house that I’ve resold after 30 years,” he said.

Brian spent 20 years selling brand new homes in Brisbane before heading south in 2006, and returned to the Forest Lake area three years ago.

“I didn’t think anyone would know me in Forest Lake after almost 20 years, but there are some that still remember me from when I first sold their house,” he said.
