The Forest Lake Crafters group are looking forward to holding a stall at the local shopping centre outside Woolworths on Thursday November 21 to fundraise for people in need.
Forest Lake Crafters secretary Liz Waldeck said the stall would be a lovely opportunity to meet new people, enjoy activities and learn a new craft.
“Come and see what the ladies have made, and buy something for Christmas or a raffle ticket for a chance to win a prize,” Liz said.
The crafters will be donating a portion of the profit from their stall to various charities, including all the proceeds from the raffle.
Liz is proud of the group’s strong community. The Crafters have met at the Community House since 1998, and some members have been attending for as long as 14 years.
“We’ve made a lot of friends through the group, and we often invite our friends here to other groups,” she said.
One regular member, Mary, said that the lack of knitting she’d done over the morning session on Thursday was a testament to the quality conversation she’d been enjoying with other members.
“I can knit anytime, but these interactions on a Friday morning are special,” she said.
The group offers a space to enjoy embroidery and beadwork, to knit and crochet, card-making, quilting and tapestry.
With around 25 consistent attendees, the Forest Lake Crafters group meets every Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Forest Lake Community House next to St John’s College Primary Campus, and all are welcome.
