Pillowcase for Oncology Kids

With the year quickly drawing to a close, the ladies of Pillowcases for Oncology Kids managed to fit in the last packing day for the year.

We packed 237 pillowcases which will be delivered to the Brisbane Children’s Hospital for children undergoing treatment for cancer.

We make them with good quality cotton fabric in a wide range of patterns including teddy bears, spaceships, animals, fairies and patterns suitable for teenagers.

Being in hospital is an emotional time for anyone especially children and the pillowcases hopefully brighten their day a little.

If you are interested in joining our team please contact me on my mobile 0416 076 488 or email me on jillnason.email@gmail.com. We are generously supported by the Forest Lake Heritage Bank.

There is no pressure, and everyone sews as many as they are comfortable doing at their own pace in their own home. The group has been going for 14 years now.

We always follow our packing with a morning tea and lots of chats and laughter.

Sadly, the founder of the group Una Gray passed away recently. She will be greatly missed in the community.

She was involved in many things and was named Senior Citizen of the Year in 2018. Without people like Una, the community would be much poorer.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a wonderful new year – we hope that 2025 is good to you all.

By Jill Nason.
