Thirty-five talented students from the Forest Lake area will be starring in the first ever on-stage Junior adaptation of Frozen the Musical, performed by Allstars Performing Arts at the Lighthouse Event Centre in Forest Lake on December 10 at 3:00pm.
Frozen the Musical (Junior) music director and Allstars teacher Amy Winner said the staff and students at Allstars were very excited to bring the family-favourite 2013 Disney movie to life.
“Our cast is so excited to be on stage doing one of their favourite shows, especially those who recently saw the touring production at QPAC,” she said.
“Our students are currently loving trying on their amazing costumes and seeing the show come together.”
Miss Winner said the musical would be slightly shorter than the movie, making it a good length for young families to watch.
“But it also has some fun additions of new songs and characters, as well as all their favourites such as “Do you want to Build a Snowman” and “Let it Go,’” she said.
“Audiences can look forward to a fun filled night of young performers lighting up the stage with songs and characters we all know and love.”
The cast will consist of 35 students across all junior, intermediate and senior musical theatre classes from Allstars.
“For some of our performers this is their first leading role, and for a few others this will be an exciting return to the stage,” Miss Winner said. “Our Elsa is currently a lead in her school production and is doing a magnificent job of being ready for multiple productions.”
Experienced senior cast members among the crew include Mikayla Braithwaite (Elsa), Lily Sutton (Anna), Melissa Stewart (Prince Hans), Connor Kelly (Kristoff), Pepper McCance (Olaf), and Lily Farrell (Sven).
Frozen the Musical choreography director Caitlyn Madden said she was beyond excited to bring the show to life alongside Amy Winner and Allstars Performing Arts owner and manager, Katrina Spencer.
“The majority of the Senior Musical Theatre students are also in the eisteddfod teams, and some are our beloved RSD (Ready Set Dance) teachers,” she said.
The musical is being produced and directed by highly experienced industry professionals. Mrs Spencer has been performing since she was 5 years old and has taught dance for 54 years. She has also won major awards for song and dance in New Zealand where she grew up. Katrina has been running Allstars since opening it with her husband Greg in 1997 and has been the program co-ordinator and stage manager for the Forest Lake Heritage Bank Community Carols for over 20 years.
Amy and Caitlyn both grew up dancing at Allstars. Miss Winner has been performing all her life, including in professional performances in lead roles across the world, and has taught voice acting for over 10 years in Brisbane and London. She has also been involved in the Forest Lake Christmas Carols events for more than 20 years.
Caitlyn has danced since she was 3 years old and has been teaching dance for five years. She has starred in three lead roles in Allstars musicals and performed with them in America and on cruise ships. Since she was 19, Caitlyn has specialised professionally in stilts, fire arts, shows and events across Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Frozen the Musical Junior will be followed by the Allstars end-of-year concert, which is included in the purchase of musical tickets.
“I can’t wait to see the end result,” Miss Madden said. “It’s gonna be an amazing show.”
Pre-show drinks and hot food can be purchased from the cafeteria from 2:00 pm, and the dinner menu will be available from 5:00 pm.
