Forest Lake based dance studio Allstars Performing Arts recently participated in several competitions across Ipswich and the Gold Coast, with dancers achieving great results across four weekends.

At the Everybody Sing and Dance Now eisteddfod held at the Nerang Bicentennial Community Centre in July, Allstars students took home two 3rd places, two Highly Commended awards, and one Special Mention award.

At the Ipswich Performers Dance Festival held at the Ipswich Civic Centre in August, students earned three 2nd places, one 3rd place, one Very Highly Commended Award and one Highly Commended Award.

Allstars Performing Arts studio owner-manager Georgia Eadie congratulated the students on their fantastic results.

“I am incredibly proud of all of our performance team students that have competed over the following weeks – they have done exceptionally well in their divisions,” she said.

“We have had many students compete for the first time this year such as our Under 8’s Tap who received two 3rds this year, as well as our Under 12’s Hip Hop who also received a 3rd place in a large section.

“Our team members should be so proud with their achievements so far. We have one more competition left before we head into our end of year concert preparation.”

The under 12’s acrobatics routine, Trip a Little Light Fantastic, received great feedback regarding the student’s skills and tumbling technique and the energy they brought to the stage.

Allstars Performing Arts senior acrobatics coordinator Julie Pilon said the students did an exceptional job considering it was their first time performing the new routine, and for some students it was their first time ever competing onstage.

“The acrobatics team made us incredibly proud, showcasing some fantastic new skills and tumbles that these students have worked really hard to achieve,” she said.

“The routine was passed down to our younger 12’s troupe after being a beloved favourite performed by our studio seniors for many years. Our teachers, parents and students were astonished with how well they performed it.”

The acrobatics program is based on the international Acrobatics Arts syllabus, and several students are currently working their way up to level 10.

“Throughout the competition season, the judges consistently praised the students for their wonderful partnering skills and tumbling technique, as well as their genuine stage presence and teamwork,” Julie said.
