Our regular formal monthly meeting was held at our usual venue, the Centenary Tavern, where we enjoyed a lovely supper. It was, however, a rather different meeting this month as our guest speaker was unable to attend due to illness. Instead, we called on our members to step in and share their travel stories. Our request was met with great enthusiasm and we heard a number of interesting and amusing stories from around the world. It was fascinating to hear about all the places our members have visited, we definitely are a well-travelled group.
Earlier in the month a group of our ladies attended the VIEW Zone Conference. This event brings together VIEW groups within the Brisbane area for lively debate and discussion on topics of interest and relevance to VIEW members. Also, during the last month we have held our coffee and chat mornings and our active book club met to discuss their latest read, Chai Time at Cinnamon Gardens by Shankari Chandran. Forthcoming events include Christmas in July at The Miner’s Right Restaurant, walks, morning teas and our annual fashion parade.
VIEW is a national women’s volunteer organisation, exclusively supporting the education of children through The Smith Family. We are connected by the common purpose to improve the lives of Australian students who are experiencing disadvantage. VIEW stands for Voice, Interests and Education of Women and thousands of women across Australia belong to VIEW.
Joining VIEW is a great way to meet people, make connections and form lasting friendships. We gather monthly for our formal meeting which is followed by supper and a speaker. Our next meeting will be held on Monday, August 12. If you would like to attend, please contact Rita for more information on 0413138967 before Thursday, August 8. The cost is $35 and booking is essential. Do come along, you will receive a warm welcome.
