New Lights for Wallaroo Way and Blunder Road

Residents in Doolandella are eagerly watching the progress of the upgrade of the intersection of Wallaroo Way and Blunder Road. Works have started on the underground electrical cables, new drainage and the new footpath that will link Peacock Street to the bus stop on Blunder Road. The lights to be installed at this intersection will alleviate the stress and worry of negotiating this dangerous intersection daily while travelling to school, work, and other activities.

St John’s Students Eager to Walk to School

I would like to congratulate St John’s Anglican College Primary for their involvement with The Active School Travel program. The school has held several very successful Walk to School events with children participating and walking to school from four different locations around Forest Lake. This program aims to enable children to travel to school safely and create healthier, more active students, increases road safety awareness, and assists in tackling school traffic congestion. Thank you to the head of the Junior School Martin Brownlow for making this program possible and encouraging the local families to participate.

Free Native Plants Program

I would like to remind residents that you can access the council’s Free Native Plants Program at Crossacres Garden Centre in Doolandella. Bring along your rates notice to the Forest Lake Ward office or at the Forest Lake Markets for your free trees voucher. The Forest Lake Lions have a fundraising sausage sizzle at the Garden Centre every weekend, so make sure you stop and say hi while you’re browsing for your native trees. More information on this program can be found at www.brisbane.qld.gov.au

If there’s anything else I or my ward staff can help with on these or any other council matters, please contact my office at Forestlake.ward@bcc.qld.gov.au or on 34071211. I look forward to seeing you when I’m out and about in our community.
