The Forest Lake Community Festival held on October 12 at the Lake Parklands was a huge community hit, with thousands returning to enjoy the annual event.

Families came from all over Forest Lake and surrounding suburbs to enjoy an afternoon filled with live performances, thrilling rides, food and drinks and browsing the many market stalls before watching the impressive fireworks display.

There was endless free entertainment for kids, including the popular petting zoo, super slide, candy swing, cruising car ride, and even a life-size roaming dinosaur.

Festival goers had the opportunity to chat with the SES and take a seat behind the wheel of an emergency buggy, as well as petting some friendly snakes and other reptiles. There were also several opportunities to win prizes at the sideshow alley and purchase show bags.

The festival is coordinated each year by Forest Lake Community Events Association president Kylie Gates and committee members, with dozens of community groups and individuals contributing to the event to make it a success.

“The Festival was a fantastic event, drawing a large crowd despite the late rain,” Kylie said.

“It was wonderful to see the community enjoy the vibrant atmosphere filled with local talent, delicious food, and free activities.”

Kylie extended a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and attended the event, her wonderful team of helpers, and volunteers from Forest Lake Baptist Church.
