The Brisbane South Toy Library is celebrating a significant boost in resources thanks to a community grant from AVID Property Group, the Covella community developer.
The funds will enable the toy library to purchase several high-quality dolls’ houses, each featuring unique designs.

These new additions will enhance the library’s extensive collection, offering more options for families in the broader community to borrow.
Toy coordinator and volunteer at the Brisbane South Toy Library Robyn Davis expressed her gratitude for the partnership with Covella.
“We aim for quality resources and toys which can only be purchased with community support,” Robyn said.
“This welcomed partnership with Covella allows us to purchase new dollhouses from established proven brands.”
The Brisbane South Toy Library, run by dedicated volunteers, provides its members with access to a wide range of quality toys, games, and play resources.
The library also offers party hire services, including outdoor family games, children’s ride-ons, tables, and chairs.
This initiative not only reduces the financial burden on families but also minimises the number of unwanted toys ending up in landfills.
“Our service reduces financial burden on families and unwanted toys from going to landfill – instead, they can be used again and again which perfectly aligns with our motto of ‘borrow, play, return, repeat’ at a minimal expense,” Robyn said.
With over 2,000 toys and an addition of 25 new toys each month, the Brisbane South Toy Library serves 210 member families, making it the largest toy library in South East Queensland.
“It would be great to see every community have a toy library and have it recognised as an essential service like a book library,” Robyn said.
Chairman of the joint venture with Greenfields and AVID Executive General Manager Bruce Harper highlighted the importance of the grants program.
“The Sponsorships and Grants program is about supporting local growth and regional sustainability through new initiatives, events, and equipment for groups and charities,” Bruce said.
The 2024 Community Sponsorship and Grants Program also recognized The Greenbank Scout Group as a recipient.
Their grant will go towards updating equipment for adventurous activities, including radios, a spot emergency location device, compasses, and a defibrillator.
