As the new year starts, l would like to introduce myself as the scribe who writes the monthly articles for the 50+ Club and what our club does on a monthly basis.

We meet on the third Friday of each month at the Old Inala Hall at 10am for a 10.30 start and are situated on the corner of Rosemary Street and Abelia St, Inala.

Each meeting there is morning tea, raffles birthday acknowledgements along with interesting and varied guests speakers.

They are always informative including special need service animals, solicitors, medical breakthroughs, fire risks and numerous other kind people giving their time to tell us about what’s is their specialty in their chosen field.

The last in November was on long distant Queensland Railway travel.

Our club is run by Leonie Ayling (President) and a handful of behind the scene wonderful assistances who provide help at our monthly meetings as well as delicious morning teas on our numerous outings throughout the year.

2024 saw us visit the Police Museum in Roma St in February, March was morning tea on the banks of the Brisbane River before going to The Port of Brisbane for a comprehensive tour of behind the scenes of the busy port facilities.

April was a cruise on The Brisbane River and lunch at Southbank and May saw us travel to Eumundi Markets while June was a picnic lunch at New Farm Park.

Christmas in July was held at the South West Tafe as was the Melbourne Cup luncheon put on by the club.

August was a trip to Pohlman’s Nursery including a small train trip around the complex and lunch at Gatton and September was a picnic lunch at Redcliffe followed by Op-Shopping at Wynnum in October.

That’s our monthly bus tours and throughout the year there are different hotels and restaurants where we make our own way to including November’s lunch at The Old Springfield Tavern.

We have also had BBQ luncheon at Forest Lake during the year as well as Centenary Tavern and the Monier Hotel in Darra.

We hope this gives ou an idea of the this social, club that is not affiliated with any other organisation.
