What a lovely day we had on our Friendship Day, our first since 2019.Â
Visitors came from 14 garden clubs and we were pleased to welcome Councillor Charles Strunk to his first meeting as our Patron. The organisation of the day was a huge effort from all our committee plus volunteers and we thank them all.Â
Our speaker Russell Young helped us all with what to put where in the garden and hopefully solved some of our problems. There were raffles, lucky door prizes, plant sales and a white elephant stall and everyone went home with something. Thank you to Charles Strunk, Annastasia Palaszckuk and Milton Dick for their kind donations.
The hot weather has well and truly arrived and the weather bureau is warning us that there will not be much rain. Therefore you will need to protect your garden with lots of mulch so that the moisture doesn’t escape.
You will also need to water wisely so that you don’t end up with a huge bill. Before buying any plants check with the nursery that they can cope with limited watering. Don’t waste money buying anything that needs to be ‘kept moist’.
And finally to those who had a flutter on the Melbourne Cup. Hope you picked a winner.
Commiserations to those that lost money. Hope you had a great time at whatever lunch you went to.
Happy gardening!
Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month with morning tea served at 9.30 am for a 10.00 am start. The venue is the National Servicemen’s Association Hall at 907 Boundary Road, Wacol (entrance off Metroplex Place and Nashos Place).
We welcome visitors who may be interested in joining our very friendly club.
