We say it every year – but, where did the year go? They seem to be getting faster. Or are we getting busier?
At least things are winding down now and, apart from a few Christmas parties, most of the organisations we belong to are in recess until February. That means that after the hectic lead up to the actual day we can relax a bit. Sadly, we have a lot of time on our hands but it is too hot to do anything, especially garden. We can only try to keep it alive and hope that the next water bill won’t be too much of a shock. Meantime, just sit on the deck with a cool drink and do a little planning.
In October we held our Friendship Day with members from 12 other garden clubs attending. It was a really lovely morning and the feedback was very positive. Thanks to the Committee and all the volunteers.
If you get given a lovely red poinsettia for Christmas, plant it in the garden or in a pot but just remember that it will flower again mid-year, not in December. They have been forced into thinking they are living in the northern hemisphere. However, they will provide some lovely winter colour next year.
Wishing you all a very happy Christmas and all the best for 2024.
Our meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month with morning tea served at 9.30 am for a 10.00 am start. The venue is the National Servicemen’s Association Hall at 907 Boundary Road, Wacol (entrance off Metroplex Place and Nashos Place). We welcome visitors who may be interested in joining our very friendly club.
