By the time most of you read this Easter will be over and we will have had our fill of Hot Cross Buns and Easter Eggs.
The next meeting of the garden club is Tuesday April 2 and the guest speaker is Michael Byrnes who will be talking about Orchids. These are such beautiful plants but many of us have trouble growing them so hopefully Michael will be able to give us some tips.
We recently held an open garden at the home of members Barbara and Errol Tweedie. This was a great success and fortunately the rain held off, unlike last year. There was a delicious morning tea provided by members and a chance to catch up for a chat, especially for the committee who have other duties at our general meetings.
The Queensland Council of Garden Clubs is holding their Plant & Floral Spectacular on the weekend of April 6 – April 7 at Mt Coot-tha. There is a competition for all types of plants which provide a wonderful display for plant lovers. This is also a great opportunity to purchase plants.
A number of garden clubs have stalls selling plants which are potted up by their members from their own gardens, a lot of which are not available at nursery outlets. So head along and see what you can find. You can get a tea or coffee plus something to eat.
Happy gardening.
Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month with morning tea served at 9.30 am for a 10.00 am start. The venue is the National Servicemen’s Association Hall at 907 Boundary Road, Wacol (entrance off Metroplex Place and Nashos Place). We welcome visitors who may be interested in joining our very friendly club.
