Wow, what a year 2020 was, but we all got there in the end. Our season was shorter than usual but there was so much more than usual that had to be done to meet COVID-19 protocol. It was a tough season but we got through it and we are now heading into the 2021 season.
Unfortunately though, the club didn’t come out of the year unscathed; the clubhouse was broken into and much damage was done. Due to this we have had to spend money in areas that were unexpected in fixing the damage that was done and to install more security in the form of more cameras, alarms and more substantial locks.
This situation is very disappointing for many reasons. All that has been accomplished by this is to prevent a local children’s sporting club in moving forward for at least one season. At the end of the day it is our kids who will be missing out which is a very sad thing. But, our committee is dedicated to getting us back on track and ready to meet the upcoming season head on.
Speaking on committee, we have an almost completely new committee this year with a new President, Vice President, Secretary and Registrar as well as a few new general members. Our Treasurer, Leeann, is heading into her sixth year on the committee; an amazing effort from an even more amazing person.
2021 online registration is now open. Go onto MySideline (profile.mysideline.com.au) to register yourself as a player or a volunteer. Or come on down to a training night, Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5pm starting 2nd February, 1449 Boundary Road, Ellen Grove.
