Forest Lake Men’s Shed: May – July Updates

The Lake News    July 1, 2023    3 min read

May:

Business as usual at the shed, we have completed three “Connect 4’s”-style games, one for Charles Strunk and the Forest Lake Ward office, another for the Hub Inala, and another for a local lady. All thought they were great and useful. We completed two garden benches in the last month as well as making a lectern and Badge Boxes for the RSL. It is with sadness, in the last month we have lost one member who passed away suddenly – unfortunately that’s a sign of getting older. We must all live to enjoy each day, as we never know when our number is up.

June:

June is here and half the year gone already, we have just finished a special order of restoring a small single seat which was a grandmothers -and it’s been restored for a wedding  which she will be attending. It was a great job to do it for them.

We are also making Badge Boxes for the RSL to display their badges they sell on Anzac and Remembrance Day.

We continue to support men in our community from Isolation and loneliness , which is what the men’s shed movement is all about.

As usual you can leave your recyclables at the shed 24/7. We continue to raise funds from donations of cans and bottles to recycle from our community.

As always, if you’re a male sitting at home wondering what to do to occupy your time, come and see what we get up to -you can do woodwork, art, play cards, do hobby modelling or just sit and chat and have a coffee or tea with us – this is what we do well.

Monday to Friday 8 am to 12 noon at 25 High St – or call Steve 0421520804.

July:

In the last month we have gained three new members. Most members have different reasons for joining us – some just for company, some for health reasons, and some to help out the community.

We don’t care why you join us, all are welcome, whether you want to do art, play cards or do woodwork, or just sit and chat over a coffee, tea or water.

In the woodwork shed we continue to restore garden benches, make Connect 4’s, Giant Jengas and more.

We are always open to new members. If you are interested in what we get up to, drop down and have a chat. We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 12 noon, 25 High St, Forest Lake. To find out more, call Steve on 0421520804.
