On Saturday June 11, a Farewell Afternoon Tea was held for Susannah and Graham Friis, previous owners of The Lake News. Contributors past and present came to say goodbye.
Also in attendance was Chris Wren, father of Susannah who was the original owner of The Lake News. Of course there were some reminiscences.
Susannah paid a personal tribute to Marge Breitenbach for her contribution to Forest Lake and 22 years association with the publication.
The Lake News new owner, Paul Jackson, was introduced to the group. Paul, very experienced and also community-minded, is the owner of Logan West News.
The Probus Club of Forest Lake Inc would like to extend a very welcoming hand to Paul and wish him the very best. He will
find us a warm and welcoming community.
Our Cub continues to grow as we welcomed new members, Louise and Peter Headley. We wish them many years of fun and fellowship.
After heavy rain, we were fortunate to have a fine day for our trip to the Lockyer Valley.
The trip was declared interesting and relaxing and enjoyed by all. First stop was the Laidley Pioneer Village and Museum. Members spent time looking over the village before sitting down to a delicious morning tea provided by the volunteers.
After another look around the museum, it was then back on the bus to the heritage listed and family owned Marburg Hotel where a sumptuous lunch awaited us.
Our speaker for June was Amanda Harvey from Queensland Rail. We enjoyed an informative video of amazing train trips in our state, as well as the cost of train travel in Qld for Seniors.
Forest Lake Probus Club members continue to enjoy monthly lunches and morning teas, a great way to keep in touch. We hold our General Meetings on the second Tuesday of each month.
The venue is the Richlands Hotel, 132 Government Rd. We meet at 9:30am for a 10:00am start.
You are assured of a warm welcome if you would like to visit and see if our club is for you.
