The Queensland Day Community Awards Ceremony was held at The Blue Fin Fishing Club in Inala on Saturday June 15, 2024.

I was humbled and privileged to receive a community champion award on the day presented by Federal Member for Oxley and Speaker of the House Milton Dick MP, State Member for Inala Margie Nightingale MP, and Forest Lake Ward councillor Charles Strunk.

To quote the nomination form, it was for being a volunteer in the Forest Lake Rotary Club for more than 20 years, being the current treasurer and as a member of the team providing leadership, motivation, and inspiration and being committed to serving the community, no matter the size of the challenge.

I’ve always tried to follow the strong values of the Rotary Club, in offering fellowship, a strong sense of mateship and being loyal to all. Without the support of my wife, family, and the Rotary Club members I would not be here as I saw it as only being part of the community. Thanks to the community for this wonderful surprise.
