Forest Lake Community Festival

The family friendly Forest Lake Community Festival is back at the Lake Parklands on Saturday 10th of September. Come and join the community at the beautiful surrounds of the Lake Parklands for an afternoon of celebration, food, music, fireworks and entertainment.  I will be holding a mobile office at the festival giving away lots of council information bags so please come along and say hello.

Children of Courage

I had the pleasure of awarding some very special children in our community and their families this month at the Forest Lake Lions annual “Children of Courage” awards event. The children’s school staff were also recognised for the great work that they do in assisting these children to reach their full potential.

It was honoured to sponsor this wonderful event again this year along with fellow sponsors Federal Member for Oxley, Milton Dick MP and the Forest Lake Heritage Community Bank represented by their manager Belinda Killey.

Settler’s Village Park Upgrade

Finding ways to improve our parks is always rewarding as the local Councillor. Settler’s Village Park, Forest Lake was in need of a facelift and revitalizing for the local residents.

I am really pleased to announce that the new playground is now open for the children to enjoy. I know that local residents really enjoy the small bush land park’s around Forest Lake and I will continue upgrading the parks In the ward each year.  If you would like to see an upgrade or new equipment in a park near you please let the ward office know.

Welcoming the Babies

Hundreds of families will be participating in this years ‘Welcoming the Babies’ ceremony in Inala on the 8th of October. This event is proudly hosted by South West Progress Association with the support of myself, the Premier and local Member for Inala, Annastacia Palaszczuk MP, Milton Dick MP for Oxley.

Families with new babies wanting to register can do so at the Forest Lake Ward office. New babies will be welcomed to our community with free gifts, food and family entertainment, there will also be great information stalls for parents.  For more information on this year’s event please contact the Forest Lake Ward office.

R U Ok? Day

R U OK Day 2022 is back Thursday 8th September, I will be making sure that I’m checking in with as many residents to see they are well and okay. I encourage you to make it a goal to ask at least one person if they are okay this month.

If there’s anything I can do or my staff (Pam or Nayda) on these or any other council matters, please contact my office at Forestlake.ward@bcc.qld.gov.au or on 34071211. I look forward to seeing you when I’m out and about in our delightful community.
