The Inala Family Support Centre, home to the St Vincent de Paul Society (Vinnies) has received a new shade sail, courtesy of a generous grant from Heritage Bank Forest Lake.
Centre coordinator Liza Dykstra said the centre was grateful to receive the grant, which would make a notable difference to the car parking area.
“We get an extra two car parks that are covered, and it also gives room for the customers to be undercover from the sun and the rain,” she said.
The centre aims to bring support, assistance and hope to those struggling in the community in many ways.
“We help people in need – majority of the time it is food, but it might be paying their rent or paying their prescriptions, giving them furniture, clothing – we help them in any way we can,” Liza said.
“From the 1st of January 2022 to the 31st of December 2022, the Inala Family Support Centre assisted 8243 people.”
This year the centre is also teaming up with Orange Sky to bring support to the homeless in Inala.
