The Lions of Forest Lake continue to be active in the local Forest Lake community. Each weekend, without fail, our Lions attend the BBQ held at Crossacres Nursery on Crossacres Street Doolandella. We would love to see you there and it’s a great way to get your sausage sizzle fix, while supporting the club. All funds raised at these weekly BBQs goes back into community projects.
We recently attended the Forest Lake Festival, manning the BBQ with burgers and sausages a plenty. It was a great day and a great opportunity for our Lions to mingle with the community and raise funds for the many projects we have on the go.
A little known project is Lions Recycle for Sight. With the help of optometrists in the local and surrounding areas, Lions collect old glasses to be cleaned and graded so that they can be passed onto people in developing countries. Lions work together with humanitarian organisations to get the glasses to where they are needed most. The project has run for 26 years and shows no signs of slowing down. Just last month Lion Peter packed up 2500 glasses generously donated by the community. You can recycle your old and unused glasses at local optometrists or get in contact with our Lions to make your donation.
Christmas is right around the corner, and every year our Lions help get letters to and from Santa’s workshop. If you or your child would like to receive a letter from Santa, you can send your letters and lists to PO Box 4234, Forest Lake, QLD 4078 and our Lions will make sure they are delivered.
If you would like to join a local club to serve your local community, please give us a call. For membership enquiries for the Lions Club of Forest Lake, please contact Stuart Grierson on 0418 735 190.
