Late last month, local organiser Kylie Gates held a community movie night where Forest Lake residents watched Puss In Boots under the stars.
On March 26, the Forest Lake sports oval was converted into an outdoor theatre, complete with a locally-sourced snack bar, for the people of Forest Lake to see the 2022 film Puss in Boots: The Last Wish for a magical night out with friends and family.
“We had approximately 120 community members attend our event. Unfortunately the evening was quite windy and cool, but everyone enjoyed the movie,” Kylie Gates said.
“It was the first movie night I had organised myself, but I know there have been some in the past by Milton Dick MP. I would definitely like to do another in warmer weather”.
Kylie has always done what she does for the love of the Forest Lake community, making clear how much her inspiration comes from Forest Lake’s own residents, and the night was no different.
“My events aren’t for any profit, but merely to give back to the wonderful people of Forest Lake as much as I can, with the help of any local businesses that can offer their support too,” Kylie said.
The night’s variety of food trucks, ice cream, coffee, drinks and free popcorn and lolly bags were paid for by ILook Property Forest Lake and BOQ, with the Forest Lake Shopping Centre also donating, making the entire night a truly Forest Lake-owned and made event.
ILook Property Forest Lake said “One of our slogans is that we are a local Forest Lake family helping other local families achieve their property goals.
As a local family we like to be able to give back to the community where we can.”
