Our June meeting was very well attended with 75 participating.
Our presenter was Matilda from ADA Australia who dealt with the provision of advocacy to negotiate the minefield in applying for Aged Care packages.
Our members found it a good forum to air some of their frustration with the current system and no doubt will be seeking assistance from such services in the future.Â
A tour of one of the aged care facilities in June was also very informative with a couple of members putting their names down on the waitlist.
Last month we reported that we would be having a Glitz and Glamour event in the latter part of May, which was an outstanding success with the branch making a sizable donation to a deserving charity.
We will combine with a sister branch in Coorparoo during July to also donate used Coats for the Homeless – a very worthwhile cause considering those who are without a roof over their heads in the housing crisis. Our members are also looking forward to a lunch at the new Lucky Tree Tavern (formally the Durack Tavern) and the Christmas in July to be held at the Albert River Winery.
If you are looking to join a group of very active seniors, then our branch is the one to consider. We meet every second Thursday of each month at the Hotel Richlands, 132 Government Road, Richlands with entry at 9.30 am for a 10.15 am start.
