National Seniors – Forest Lake Branch MAY

Julie Baldwin    April 18, 2024    3 min read

Hello readers – we hope everyone is enjoying the cooler weather. We are really settling in well at our new meeting location at the Forest Lake Hotel, with some members staying on for lunch afterwards.

The guest speaker for our April meeting was Julie Cawdell, community hearing advisor from Hearing Australia. Julie’s presentation was of great interest to all members present. Members have a much greater understanding of the need to focus on their hearing health. Hearing Australia is a government organisation with a clinic in Forest Lake.

On our calendar for the Thursday May 9 branch meeting we will have Karen Furnivall from National Seniors present badges to members with 25 years service. Karen will also give a talk on National Seniors to all attending, so come along and find out all about National Seniors Australia and the many benefits of membership. You will also get to meet some lovely fun-loving members and check out our calendar of events for the coming months.  Entry fee to our meetings is a modest $8, which includes morning tea.

On April 12 a big group of members boarded the bus to head off on our much anticipated 7 day trip to the Hunter Valley.

At our Ten Pin Bowling event late in March, as well as all the laughter, some clever players got a strike.  We enjoyed lunch at The Lion afterwards.

Our President Brian Waldeck laid a wreath on behalf of the National Seniors Forest Lake Branch on Anzac Day 25 April.

On Thursday 23 May an outing has been planned to visit Vend Marketplace in Annerley.

Forest Lake National Seniors is very grateful for the support it receives from all our local Politicians and Forest Lake Heritage Bank.

As always we send our best wishes for a return to good health to any of our members who are unwell or recovering from surgery. To all the Mothers in our community, Happy Mother’s Day for May 12.

If you would like more information about our Branch and National Seniors – an Australia-wide not-for-profit, non political organisation with really great member benefits – please contact Brian on 0407113126.  Or you can go on the National Seniors website for more detailed information. You can also speak to our membership officer at the reception desk.

Come for a couple of visits, and then decide if you would like to become a member. Meetings commence at 10am for the months of February to November. We look forward to seeing you there.
