National Seniors Forest Lake Branch Update

Paul Jackson    August 5, 2022    2 min read

We were privileged to listen to Emeritus Professor Roland Sussex OAM at our July meeting.

He is a specialist in language, communication, culture and health communication.

He has held many distinguished positions in Universities and public communication institutions.

His presentation was extremely interesting to our members, covering the origins of many of our uniquely Australian words and phrases.

Late July will see many of us at our Christmas in July Luncheon at Spicers Retreat Hidden Vale in Grandchester, which promises to be one of the best we have had to date.

Early this month, we will be heading into the Brisbane City Markets in Reddacliff Place opposite the Casino for a spot of shopping, and then off to the Pancake Manor for lunch.

Emeritus Professor Roland Sussex

The membership of the Branch has increased with three new members to a total of 126. We don’t see everyone at our meetings due to various reasons but try to encourage them to bring a friend. Don’t sit at home if you are retired or near to it, come join in with us for some company and wonderful activities and outings.

We hold our meetings on the second Thursday of each month except December and January. They are held at the Hotel Richlands, Government Road starting at 9:30 am for sign in and a start at 10:00 am. There are great guest speakers or entertainment organised for our members during the meeting to keep things interesting. If you have further questions don’t hesitate to call me, Peter, on 0404 829 518. Hope to see you there.
