Construction is set to begin on a new shopping centre on the corner of Pallara Avenue and Gooderham Rd in Pallara.

The centre will include a Coles supermarket, specialty shops, a medical centre, pharmacies, offices, a 24-hour gym and more.

The design will also provide locals with convenient car parking.

Calamvale Ward councillor Angela Owen said residents had been waiting with anticipation to have access to shopping centre facilities within the fast-growing suburb.

“This will be a great asset for our local community,” Cr Angela Owen said.

“I have been advised by the centre developers construction will start in March 2024 and be completed by April 2025, weather permitting.

Cr Owen said there had been more than 1000 letters and emails of support from locals for shopping centre facilities in the area.

“In the past 4 years alone, the growth in the suburb of Pallara has been rapid,” she said.

“In a cost of living crisis, it is important for families to be able to live, work and shop in their local community, rather than having to travel to other suburbs to buy a loaf of bread, or a carton of milk, or see a doctor or go to the chemist to pick up medicine.”
