The Lion Richlands, a cornerstone of the Western Suburbs community for almost 70 years, has proudly unveiled its new initiative, the Helping Hands Project.

This program is designed to foster deeper connections and extend critical support to local community and sporting groups, charities, and other community-driven projects throughout Brisbane’s Western Suburbs.

Recognizing the growing needs of the community, the Helping Hands Project aims to make a positive impact by providing both financial assistance and expert guidance to help local organizations thrive.

The Lion Richlands has long held a reputation as a key supporter of grassroots initiatives, including its efforts to promote the growth and sustainability of football programs in the region.

With the Helping Hands Project, the organisation is now set to broaden its support to encompass a wider range of community efforts.

“The Lion has always maintained a strong commitment to supporting charitable causes, and both the Board and Management have collectively decided to expand our support for local community groups,” The Lion Richlands general manager Justin Hall said.

The initiative was developed in response to challenges that many organizations face when applying for government grants, where securing funding can often be a daunting and complex process.

Justin noted that the Helping Hands Project is about more than just offering monetary aid.

“Our goal is to ensure applications are completed accurately, and we also offer assistance with upfront funding when needed,” he said.

The Lion Richlands is leveraging its own experience to help organizations navigate the complicated grant application process, providing a vital resource for groups that might otherwise struggle to secure the necessary funds to achieve their objectives.

As part of the initiative’s long-term vision, Hall revealed plans to continue expanding Helping Hands over the next decade.

“We’ve recognised that we’re unable to support everyone directly through The Lion Richlands,” he said.

“This program allows us to extend our reach by supporting like-minded community groups that offer services, purpose, and sports facilities.”
