Get ready for a tail-wagging good time as The Australian Shepherd Club of Queensland introduces its first-ever Dog-Friendly Movie Night on January 6at Dogs Queensland, Durack.
The unique event will be inspired by nostalgic family outings and a love for our four-legged companions.
Belinda West, a member of the Australian Shepherd Club of Queensland, thought of the fundraising event when sitting down watching television one night.
“The club is always thinking of ways to fundraise, and I saw an old advertisement pop up about drive-in movies,” she said.
“I remembered how much fun I had at the drive-ins when I was younger and suggested it to the club as something to do alongside our dogs.”
Anticipation is high for this inaugural movie night and fundraising event, and if successful the club plans to make it a regular occurrence, offering different types of fundraisers to support local small pet businesses.
“I believe it will be a fantastic night for dog owners, and their dogs, where they can spend some quality time together,” Belinda said.
The event kicks off with a pet-friendly market featuring a variety of stalls supporting small pet businesses. From treats and leads to collars and doggie ice cream, there will be something for every pet enthusiast.
The event then moves onto a few judged events such as the best dressed dog and cutest trick, with the night finishing with a screening of the movie, ‘A Dog‘s Purpose’.
“I’d like to remind people to ensure they bring a blanket or chair to get cozy under the stars, and to ensure they leash up your furry friend for a night of family-friendly fun,” Belinda said.
“We will also have professional photographers on site to capture some special moments with your pets”.
