Elevate Church

Hundreds of locals from Forest Lake and surrounding suburbs joined in the Elevate Church community lunch late last year for a community lunch.

The lunch event has been organised by Pastor Mavis and Raj for close to a decade, held at Grand Avenue, State School in Forest Lake on Christmas Day.

Pastor Mavis and Raj every year have seen the number of residents attending increase. This year, they welcomed approximately 450 residents to their free church service, who then chose to stay for the free community multicultural lunch.  Guests were pleased to see that food stations included traditional food from around the globe, and enjoyed the live entertainment and activities.

Pastor Mavis said that she was delighted to speak to attendees from all walks of life who had been looking forward to joining and taking part in the church service and community lunch.

More than 50+ volunteers nominated to assist and work tirelessly on the day. Some of the volunteers travelled from as far as Toowoomba to ensure that there was enough help.

Pastor Raj said that it brought him lots of joy to hear that many residents attended through word-of-mouth.

“It was nice to see residents who had never met each other sit together to share a meal, share stories and a giggle or two.

“Long lasting friendships were made on the day and it’s great to see neighbours getting to know each other.

“We would like the community to know that we are here to support anyone looking for physical, mental, emotional healing. Our services take place on Sundays where we pray for anyone who needs support.”

Elevate Church invites residents to join them to learn more about the Gospel. They meet every Saturday at Grand Avenue State School at 9.30am – 11.30am.
