Happy Mothers Day to all the mums out there – hope your kids spoil you rotten.
The next meeting of the garden club is Tuesday May 7 and the guest speaker is Brett Malcolm, who will be talking about frogs. These beautiful creatures are gradually disappearing so we need to find a way to encourage them in our gardens.
At the end of March the club had a bus trip to The Lost Garden at Eumundi. It was a wet day but the umbrellas were out and we managed to have a look around the garden. Our host served us a lovely cake on arrival and then cooked us pizzas for lunch – a marathon effort, but they were most enjoyable.
The lovely rain arrived just before Easter and watered our gardens for us which saved on our water bills. Sadly it watered the lawns as well so of course that means we have to mow!
If you are looking for a garden show this month, head for the Pine Rivers Garden & Plant Fair on the weekend of May 18 and May 19 at the Pine Rivers Showground. They usually have a great variety of plants available for purchase, plus there are some interesting guest speakers, food, entertainment, live music and giveaways.
Happy gardening.
Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month with morning tea served at 9.30 am for a 10 am start. The venue is the National Servicemen’s Association Hall at 907 Boundary Road, Wacol (entrance off Metroplex Place and Nashos Place). We welcome visitors who may be interested in joining our very friendly club.
