The Forest Lake markets returned on Friday July 14 for a mid-year Christmas-in July themed event at the Forest Lake Sports Field on College Avenue.

Locals were treated to many stalls and attractions on the night, ranging from food trucks selling spuds, crepes and poffertjes to ice cream and a great variety of market stalls.

Allstars Performing Arts presented a number of performances, including Lose Control, Faith, Black Magic, and an item from Elf the musical JR, as a teaser for the full production which they will perform later this year.

Costumed Allstars performers also handed out  free candy canes to market goers.

Allstars PA musical theatre teacher Caitlyn Madden said it was beautiful to see the community come together to support one another, and create a safe and encouraging space for some of the new performers at Allstars.

“[It] was such a supportive, caring and comfortable environment for some of our mini performers, of which was their first time performing their dances,” she said.

Community members loved coming out to the markets and supporting the local business on the night.

The Allstars performance was a hit, receiving high praise from market-goers.

Stall-runner of TBL Designs, Maree Simmich commented, “The Forest Lake markets have been a well attended community event since starting in October last year and last Friday night was no different, with our local dance group Allstars giving us a fantastic performance.

“The live music is always a hit and makes the atmosphere even more appealing for  a social night out.

“As a stall holder, the organisers, Veronica and Matt, do an amazing job, right down to the actual day of the markets”

Further entertainment was provided by singer Jodie-Joy who included a few Christmas songs in her set, with face painting by Leanne’s Fancy Faces, bubble art by Bubble’licious Creations and a playground for the kids.

A heated seating area and a dog-friendly policy made the markets a night for the whole community.

The July 14 event marked the ninth time the markets have been held since they began late last year.
