I’m excited that it’s February and that plenty is still happening in our community thanks to Queenslanders, especially Forest Lake residents, following COVID-19 regulations. You have done a wonderful job looking out for your neighbour and yourselves.
I would like to especially point out to everyone that this month is incredibly important to me and Forest Lake Ward residents as it is National Pet Adoption Day on Tuesday 9 February. For more than 12 months I have enjoyed weekly walks with my rescue greyhound companion, Em, who has enriched my life tremendously. Council has lots of information on its website or even better, give my staff a call if you have any questions. This month, I also encourage you to email your favourite pet photo to Forestlake.ward@bcc.qld.gov.au where I will share it on my social media page.
To keep you up-to-date with the latest news on local council projects, the Lake Parklands, which you may have read on my social media pages is looking fantastic thanks to BCC officers watering the gardens, desilting, the new stage upgrades, and upgrading our play equipment in our parks.
In addition, Brisbane City Council have commenced consulting with me about the park upgrades for Castamore Way and Kathleen Street, Richlands, Mulgrave Street, Forest Lake and Peacock Street, Doolandella. Thanks to everyone who returned a consultation feedback form and spoke to my staff about what matters to you in our parks. I’m thrilled to show you the plans in due course.
Happy 3rd birthday Forest Lake parkrun! Join in the fun 5km morning run or walk. The team meets at 6.45am at the top oval, Forest Lake every Saturday morning. This year, I’m looking forward to once more sponsoring a birthday cake and I will have a special gift for the best dressed.
February 2nd is when I head back into Council Chambers to fight for Forest Lake’s fair share. This year, I have lots on the agenda that I’m going to bring to the Lord Mayor and administrations attention, including getting our kerbside collection reinstated. Feel free to raise any local council matters that are important to you with me by contacting my office on 3407 1211. I want to hear from you.
There are lots of interesting things coming up for our local community groups. Please give my ward office a call if you want to know more about what’s happening in our community or if you are thinking of hosting an event. I would like to hear your thoughts and discuss how I can help.
If there’s anything I or my staff (Pam or Nayda) can do on these or any other council matters, please contact my office at Forestlake.ward@bcc.qld.gov.au or on 3407 1211. I look forward to seeing you when I’m out and about in our delightful community.
