President’s Dinner 2023
The Forest Lake & Districts RSL Sub-Branch held the President’s Dinner at The Everyman’s Hut, Wacol, on December 2. The event also celebrated the Club’s 25th Anniversary. More than 100 members and guests were in attendance.
The evening commenced at 5:30pm in the grounds of Nasho’s Place, Wacol, the precinct housing the Club’s Headquarters. Guests enjoyed informal conversation and drinks as they were entertained by the Pipes and Drums of the National Servicemen’s Memorial Band. At sundown the guests adjourned to The Everyman’s Hut within the precinct where Dan Baldwin, Master of Ceremony, presided over the evening’s formalities.
Dinner was preceded by grace, said by Warren Mackenzie of the Reformation Baptist Church. Following dinner, Club President Steve Ford addressed the guests, paid respect to past members and spoke of the year’s achievements and plans for 2024.
The 25th Anniversary cake was cut by founding member Barbara Kilpatrick.
Looking forward, the club will undertake the needs of its members, current and ex-serving members of the ADF and the local community.

- Supporting democratic principles and practices and fostering good citizenship among the young people in the local community.
Steve’s ‘manager’, Sharron Ford, was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for years of dedicated service to RSL (Q) Forest Lake & Districts Sub-Branch. Sharron is known within the club as ‘Wonder Woman’ for the numerous tasks that she deftly performs with aplomb and calmness. As well as Club Secretary, Sharron is responsible for keeping Steve in check 24-7, attending to numerous roadblocks arising from formal and informal activities, and keeping the members informed at short notice by email and telephone. She is across every impediment before it eventuates.
