The Lions Club of Inala during the October meeting surprised Treasure John with a honouree Lions Club tie, and youngest volunteer Xavier with a Kokoda Youth coin for completing the Kokoda Youth Challenge at the Gold Coast.
John was recognised for co-ordinating the first Lions Club of Inala’s Citizenship Ceremony in the suburb of Inala more than a decade ago and all ceremonies since. This year was extra special as he co-ordinated two in one year with the support of the club members. Xavier was recognised for all his volunteer work with the Lions Club of Inala and broader community, and especially for completing the Kokoda Youth Challenge and raising over $1200 earlier this year.
Lion Bill Marklew OAM presented Xavier with the unique coin as many of the Lions members served or have family that have served in armed conflict.
The club is committed to continuing to keep the memory of our local service men, women, and animals alive. Lions Club of Inala would like to also thank everyone who supported the club by having one of their delicious sausages on bread at the inaugural Free BCC Family movie in the park in Inala last month.
This event was well attended by families from Forest Lake, Inala, Doolandella and surrounding suburbs.
President Bob Richards MID, CG, MICDA is proud of the support the Lions Club of Inala is receiving as they have been working hard to give back to our most vulnerable, especially in the lead-up to Christmas.
