With the year drawing to a close, the club held its annual Dan & Dani Charity Cup. This event is held every year to raise funds for the Perinatal Research Center, based in the Royal Brisbane Hospital’s Queensland University wing. The game was held at the Virginia Golf Club on November 12. The game is played as a two person Ambrose event with a field of 28 players attending on a clear hot morning. Before the tee off, Dani held an auction to decide who played with whom, and the result was a marvellous $500 raised for our charity.

The course was in tip top condition and presented some real challenges for the teams, with some mixed results coming in at the end of the game. Nevertheless, the day was enjoyed by all – and especially the punishment beers consumed during the game!  Everyone contributed to make it a wonderful event.

After the game we all gathered in the club house to hear the results, with the winners receiving some fabulous prizes, all donated by Dan McKay and Dani Dvornicich. Thank you Dan and Dani for your generous support.

Our last event for the year is our annual ‘End of Year’ trip to the Royal Pines Golf Resort on the Gold Coast over the weekend of the 2nd & 3rd December. These events are always very popular with our members, and this year we have thirty golfers and twelve partners attending.

The Saturday game will be a Stableford event and Sunday’s game an Ambrose event with prizes for the best dressed golfer and winning pairs on the day. The Saturday night dinner also includes our annual award presentation, which will be held in a private function room, where we can all let our hair down and celebrate another great year of golf with our mates.

I would like to thank our hard working committee for another great golfing year, and to Jason Rowe for yet another great schedule of games. I’m sure he will be presenting another great calendar in 2024.

The club wishes to acknowledge and thank our major sponsor The Heritage Community Branch, Forest Lake for its ongoing support.

If you play golf and are interested in joining our social club, please contact Pat on 0417 213 659 for more details on our club and hopefully you can join us at our next game.
