Firstly, our club would like to wish all of its Lake News readers a very happy New Year; May you all drive and put straight. We are all looking forward to another fabulous year of social golf with a wonderful schedule of games for us to enjoy. Thanks to our intrepid games organiser, Jason Rowe.Â
Our first game back in 2024 was held at Wolston Park Golf Club with a very early 6 am start. While a few of us were a little rusty after the Christmas festivities, we did have some pretty hot scores returned.
A special mention to our treasurer who handed in a 2 over par card! With all of the recent rain, the greens were a bit slow, especially with the early morning dew on them. But in general, the course was great thanks to a lot of work from the grounds staff over the last few months.
Our winners on the day were:
A Grade winner – Brett Williams with 41 points; Runner Up Jason Lee with 40 points
B Grade winner – Kyle O’Conner with 46 points; Runner Up David Keane with 44 points.
Bradman winner – Shane Love with a respectable 17 points!
Our Long Drive exponents were – A Grade – Jason Lee. B Grade – Nate Lee.
Nearest Approach was on hole 9 – Dan Jones.
Nearest the Pins were on hole 8 – Dan Parkin; Hole 13 – Gavin Robinson; Hole 14 – Chris Peacock.
As usual, our members gave generously to the clubs nominated charity – The University of Queensland’s Perinatal Research Clinic. In October last year we were able to hand over a cheque for $1,000 to the head of the research team.
If you play golf and are interested in joining our social club, please contact Pat on 0417 213 659. Ladies, don’t be shy, we have several lady members who would love you to join them.
The Club would like to thank our major sponsor, Heritage Community Branch, Forest Lake for their wonderful support over many years. Without their support the club would not have the fabulous uniforms they currently are using.
