Plans underway for Pallara Sports Park

Plans are underway for a new Pallara District Sports Park, which will help to support the sport and recreation needs of the growing community.

The facility will service residents living in Pallara, Heathwood, Forest Lake, Doolandella, Durack, Inala and surrounding areas.

Brisbane City Council has finalised the land acquisition for the site, which consists of 32 acres located between Devries Road and Van Dieren road.

Some of the opportunities proposed for the facility include:

  • A multi-use recreation and community facility for indoor sports courts, events, meetings, toilets, change rooms, and outdoor eating areas and more.
  • Outdoor multi-purpose sports fields and courts.
  • Pedestrian pathway across the site.
  • Onsite parking.

Calamvale ward councillor Angela Owen said the facility would greatly benefit people living in the area.

“I think this will be an absolutely amazing facility for local residents to be able to encourage their children to engage in sport locally,” she said.

“It also maintains a lot of green space in our local suburb.

“This will be a great outcome for so many different community groups to provide a facility close to their homes.”

Cr Owen said the sports park will be constructed in line with the council’s commitment to provide more opportunities for sport, recreation, relaxation, and meeting with family and friends.

Brisbane City Council undertook initial consultation with the community in late 2023, and will release the draft concept plan for further community feedback in mid 2024.

“I would encourage all residents to put forward their requests and expressions of interest when that process becomes available later this year,” Cr Owen said.
