Thrush Street Playground officially opens to community

Forest Lake Ward councillor Charles Strunk officially opened a brand-new playground at Thrush Street Park on July 8, 2022.

The park features a new elevated play structure, group rocker, flying fox, water pump and mist forest, interactive play panels, spinner and swings.

Children and families who attended enjoyed the new family-friendly recreational area whilst having a picnic, snack bags and a sausage sizzle for lunch supplied by the Lions Club on Inala.

“The old playground was removed and the new one put in its place,” Cr Strunk said.

“We have had some great feedback from the local families since the park opened just before the school holidays; the children are loving the new equipment.”

“This is a park used by many families and is now a welcoming wonderful space for them to enjoy.”

The $1.4m upgrade was a project completed by the council over 3 years.

Design and community consultation occurred during 2020 and project construction was funded in the 2021-2022 financial year.

Construction started in February 2022 and was completed in June 2022, with some delays caused by floods and a shortage of available soft-fall.

Cr Strunk said local residents could look forward to even more upgrades coming to Thrush Street Park in the coming year.
