The Terraces retirement village in Forest Lake will be running a community Treasure Market on Sunday October 9 at the Leisure Centre from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.
People of all ages are invited to browse the market stalls, which will include plants, books, puzzles, dvds, clothes, accessories, jewellery, art, bric-a-brac and more. There will also be a cafe, sausage sizzles and a cake stall, with raffles and prizes to be drawn at the end of the day.
The Terraces social committee coordinator Pam Frank said the Treasure Markets were the first of its kind.
“We really wanted to do this ourselves as a village as a community event, so we’ll be manning the stalls, collecting items and all those sorts of things,” she said.
There will also be an information expo held inside their “spirit house” at the markets featuring Lendlease, Envigor, Transit Care and other aged care services for people in the community.
Mrs Frank said the market day was also an opportunity for people considering aged care to explore the facilities The Terraces has to offer, including a rainforest walk and multiple recreational opportunities.
“There’s always something going on if people want to participate,” she said.“We have two pools, we have a gym, a billiard table in our leisure centre and we do indoor bowls.”
Other activities at The Terraces include monthly catered dinner nights, art groups, craft groups, yoga classes, group water therapy, social morning teas and more.
