Once again the Rotary Club of Forest Lake was part of the Forest Lake Community Carols at the Forest lake Primary School Oval, sponsored by Forest Lake Heritage Bank and organised by the Forest Lake Community Events Association.
This is one of our club’s community fundraisers to help us provide assistance in our local community.
The weather was warm and dry so that all went ahead as planned, with the set up beginning in the afternoon, stalls and food vendors ready for a 5pm start, and the Carols program starting at 6pm.
There were local school choirs, local artists, Santa, and local dancers performing, which finished at 8pm, as the fireworks provided a noisy and bright completion to the show. We hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did.
We also were part of Ray White Real Estate “Little Ray of Giving” which provided Christmas gifts to children in care, with one of our partners being Inala Community House. Part of the funding for this came from the Rotary Club’s Christmas break-up dinner, where members decided to donate instead of giving gifts to each other for “Secret Santa.”
The Club also made another delivery of woollen gifts to local aged care services, made from donated wool, knitted and crocheted by members of the local Forest Lake Crochet Group.
We hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We are looking forward to our first meeting for the new year on Monday evening on January 15, 2024. For any membership enquiries, please contact our membership officer, Alan Greig, at alan_greig@bigpond.com.
