The Lake News team has been busy out and about in the community this month. Below are a few highlights from the last few weeks.

The Lake News 30th Birthday

The Lake News turned 30 this month! I recently visited Chris Wren, who co-founded The Lake News with his wife Betty Wren, along with LNP owner-manager Paul Jackson and Daniel Bouwmeester from The Greater Springfield Times to capture the origin story and the history of Local News Publications. Read all about it on Page 3 of the July edition of the magazine.

Forest Lake SHS Breakfast

LNP owner-manager Paul Jackson and ad sales manager Tracy Baird had a great time at the Business Breakfast hosted by the wonderful staff and year 12 hospitality students at Forest Lake State High School. The breakfast was attended by local community members and partners in education, including Forest Lake State School, Pallara State State School and Serviceton South State School, The Lake News, Forest Lake Shopping Centre, African Youth Council, Inala PCYC, Qld Police Service, The Lion Richlands, Zarrafas, and Ngon Restaurant. It was a great opportunity to connect with the community and the Year 12s are commended for their wonderful hospitality skills. For more on this story see page 22.

Friends of Palliative Care fundraiser ball

On June 10 The Lake News owner-manager Paul Jackson and I attended the Friends of Palliative Care ball with Nayda Hernandez and several other members of the Forest Lake community. All proceeds from the event go to Friends of Palliative Care, a charity organisation that helps provide support during end-of-life care in hospitals.

BPAC Eisteddfod

In June I attended the BPAC eisteddfod with Forest Lake Allstars Performing Arts, returning as an eisteddfod Acrobatics team member. Our teams placed 2nd in Opens Tap and Opens Acrobatics. For more information see the story on page 36.
