What a year this has been – it felt as if the year just galloped past at high speed. The November trip for Probians was to the Lifestyle Centre, Nursery and Café at Samford. We enjoyed morning tea at Logarto.
Once replenished it was time to take in our surroundings and visit the plant nursery. Although it was a typical Queensland summer with a blazing sun, Probians managed to seek out shady spots and a number purchased plants to take home. Credit has to go to the organisers as everything ran like clockwork.Â
We all marvelled at the variety of items available at the gift shop, especially the beautiful, wide selection of blue and white china which even included pots in which to display plants. Having spent a fair few dollars it was then off to lunch at the Gaythorne RSL.
Members of the Probus Book Club enjoyed their excursion at a later date when they visited the Brisbane Square Library. Here they had to perform a certain literary task as set by Book Buddy Chief Gwen. They enjoyed morning tea in the city and later caught the bus at Uptown to return home.
As is the custom, some members attended the Lord Mayor’s Annual Christmas Concert for Seniors at the City Hall.
The Probus Club of Forest Lake concluded its year with their Christmas Party at the Blue Fin Fishing club. Two of the special guests were Councillor Charles Strunk and Federal Member and Speaker of the House of Representatives the Hon. Milton Dick, who both informed us of what future plans are on the drawing board.
